ATTENDANCE RULES

Attendance Rules

At Oyster International School, we believe that regular attendance is crucial for a student’s academic progress and overall development. Consistent attendance ensures that students receive the full benefits of our educational programs and helps them build a strong foundation for future success. To maintain a productive learning environment, we have established the following attendance rules:

1. Regular Attendance is Mandatory:

  • Students are expected to attend school regularly and punctually for all scheduled classes, including morning assembly and extracurricular activities.

2. Notification of Absence:

  • Parents or guardians are required to notify the school in advance if their child will be absent due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances. Please contact the school office as soon as possible.

3. Medical Certificates:

  • In case of illness, a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner may be required for extended absences. The certificate should state the period of illness and the doctor’s recommendation for returning to school.

4. Leave of Absence:

  • In exceptional cases where a student needs to take a leave of absence for reasons other than illness, parents/guardians must submit a written request to the school administration in advance. Leave requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

5. Tardiness:

  • Students arriving late to school must report to the school office to obtain a late pass before proceeding to their classes. Repeated tardiness will be addressed.

6. Make-Up Work:

  • Students who miss classes are responsible for making up missed work. They should approach their teachers for assignments and missed lessons promptly upon returning to school.

7. Minimum Attendance Requirements:

  • To be eligible for promotion to the next grade or to take final examinations, students are required to maintain a minimum attendance percentage as per school policies.

8. Parental Cooperation:

  • We seek the active cooperation of parents/guardians in ensuring their child’s regular attendance and punctuality. Together, we can create a positive and conducive learning environment.

Consequences of Irregular Attendance:

  • Irregular attendance can negatively impact a student’s academic progress and overall performance.
  • The school may take corrective measures, including counseling and parental meetings, to address attendance issues.
  • In extreme cases of persistent absenteeism, the school reserves the right to take appropriate disciplinary action.

We believe that regular attendance is a shared responsibility between the school and parents/guardians. By adhering to these attendance rules, we can provide students with the best possible educational experience.
